    Mystic Marsh – International Academic Design Competition

    1. Eligibility

    1.1 The competition is open internationally to undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled in accredited universities or colleges in the fields of Architecture, Urban Planning, or Landscape Architecture. 1.2 Postgraduate students are not eligible to participate. 1.3 Participation may be as an individual or as a team of up to three (3) undergraduate/graduate students. 1.4 Faculty mentors may provide guidance; however, all submitted work must be student-led.

    2. Registration

    2.1 Registration is mandatory to confirm eligibility and receive official competition communications. 2.2 Only one registration per team is required. 2.3 All information provided during registration must be accurate and truthful. 2.4 The organiser reserves the right to disqualify entries found to contain false or misleading information.

    3. Competition Scope

    3.1 This is a conceptual academic design competition. 3.2 Submissions should focus on vision, planning logic, environmental sensitivity, and spatial ideas rather than technical resolution. 3.3 Detailed engineering drawings, construction documentation, cost plans, or financial modelling are not required.

    4. Submission Requirements

    4.1 Submissions must be completed and submitted digitally only as a single compiled PDF file. 4.2 No physical boards, printed materials, or postal submissions will be accepted. 4.3 Each submission must include:
    • A conceptual site masterplan
    • Diagrams and visual representations
    • At least one 3D perspective, axonometric, or massing view illustrating spatial relationships
    • Sustainability and environmental strategy
    • Conceptual commercial viability notes
    4.4 Photorealistic renderings, animations, or videos are not required.

    5. Intellectual Property & Usage Rights

    5.1 Participants retain intellectual ownership of their submitted work. However, the organiser is granted the unrestricted right to use, adapt, and further develop any winning concept for masterplan implementation and related commercial activities, without additional royalty or compensation. 5.2 By entering the competition, participants grant the organiser a non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable right to:
    • Publish submitted works on the competition website
    • Feature works on social media and promotional materials
    • Exhibit works in digital or physical exhibitions
    • Use works for educational, academic, non-commercial, or commercial purposes related to the masterplan
    5.3 All published works will be fully credited to the authors. Participants waive any claim to additional royalties or compensation arising from future development, commercialisation, or implementation of their concept by the organiser.

    6. Judging & Awards

    6.1 All submissions will be reviewed by a multidisciplinary jury appointed by the organiser. 6.2 Judging decisions are final and binding. No correspondence regarding jury decisions will be entered into. 6.3 Awards will be granted based on the published judging criteria. 6.4 The organiser reserves the right not to award a prize if submissions do not meet the expected standard.

    7. Competition Timeline

    7.1 Key dates (launch, registration deadline, submission deadline, and results announcement) will be published on official competition channels. 7.2 The organiser reserves the right to amend the competition timeline if necessary. Any changes will be communicated to registered participants.

    8. Implementation Disclaimer

    8.1 This competition is intended to generate visionary conceptual ideas only. 8.2 Winning proposals may be further developed, adapted, or refined by professional consultants prior to real-world implementation. 8.3 Participation does not guarantee project implementation, employment, or future commissions.
